Year 6 is a milestone in the academic lives of all students. We have developed a bespoke yearlong transition for all our students, which gives them the time and opportunities to take the next step of their educational journey with success and confidence. The increased exposure to the Upper School allows our students to become familiar with their systems and practices while maintaining the close, personal relationships between students and homeroom teachers.

3/ Literature as a Pathway to Excellence

Our Upper School students will dive deeper into Literature, honing their critical thinking and communication skills—key competencies for essay-based subjects at university. This initiative prepares them for academic success at the highest levels.

Texts of English Literature Studies

English Literature

The main difference between English Language and English Literature is the depth of study. At A-Level the students study Shakespeare’s play Hamlet, poetry by John Donne and Jean Rhys’ feminist postcolonial masterpiece Wide Sargasso Sea. When they study Hamlet, we read it in class, but they also watch different theatre productions and use those to compare how it’s been altered for different audiences/eras.

4/ 210+ Activities for Leaders of Tomorrow

This year, the Harrow Diploma Activities provide students with over 210 diverse options. The HDA allows our students to develop the ‘softer’ skills such as teamwork, problem solving, creative thinking and effective communication, whether in the domain of the performing, visual or musical arts, debate and public speaking, STEM, or the humanities and social sciences, among other areas. Across their learning journey at the school, students accrue a portfolio of experiences, qualifications and skills for the next step of their educational journey at the world’s leading, highly-selective universities.

5/ Academic Focus Time in Boarding

图片

This year, we’re enhancing boarding with supervised prep sessions led by academic staff. All Heads of Department (HoDs) are now on a rota on duty during prep time to support boarders. During these sessions, HoDs will review homework, answer any questions, and provide targeted academic interventions.
